For more than 180 years, The Dalmore has set the standard in multi-cask ripening. Hand-selected casks from the world’s best bodegas and wineries are expertly curated to create a sumptuous whiskey of legendary finesse.
ROYAL INHERITANCE
Gift of a king, the 12-post royal stag proudly adorns each bottle of The Dalmore. It encapsulates the distillery’s royal heritage, dating back to 1263. The emblem was bestowed on Colin of Kintail, the first chief of the Mackenzie clan, after he saved the life of King Alexander III of Scotland from the wrath of a charging deer.
In 1839, the Dalmore distillery was founded by Alexander Matheson, an adventurous merchant determined to create an exceptional single malt whiskey. In 1867, descendants of the Mackenzie clan took control of the distillery. One of the first changes was to adorn each bottle of The Dalmore with a deer, a guarantee of unparalleled quality.
The distillery’s unique collection of stills creates a unique newly produced distillate: robust and fruity, especially suited for longer and more complex maturation. This enables whiskey producers to ensure that each cask of our spirit reaches its full potential.
Richard Paterson, a pioneer in the art of barrel curation, has been the creative force behind The Dalmore for nearly fifty years. He lit the way for our current Master Whiskey Maker Gregg Glass, who carries on an unbroken chain of visionary whiskey makers, always pushing the boundaries to mature the distillate in the rarest and most exquisite casks
