Characteristics: Azienda Secondo Marco, operating in the heart of Valpolicella Classica for three generations, brings to light a 2013 Amarone Valpolicella Classico DOC, a wine of great prestige and tradition.
Terroir: The vineyards stretch between Verona and Lake Garda, at the foot of the Lessini Mountains. The area benefits from a unique microclimate, with a crossing of winds that promotes slight temperature changes and keeps the soil dry. The soil is rich in mineral salts and varies in stratigraphy.
Grape varieties: 45% Corvina, 45% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella, and other native grapes.
Vinification and Aging: The grapes are vinified in steel and cement tanks, with 45 days’ maceration on the skins. It is aged for 3 years and 6 months in 50 hl barrels, followed by 12 months of bottle aging.
Tasting Notes:
- Appearance: bright ruby red tending to garnet.
- Nose: Intense and fruity, with spicy notes and hints of vanilla.
- Palate: Dense and whole, with aftertastes of red fruit jam and roasting.
