Germany’s most famous herbal liqueur, produced since 1934, has been in the tradition of digestive liqueurs in Central Europe from the very beginning, while at the same time moving away from it in terms of its more amiable and less bitter taste. Its ancient recipe includes as many as 56 different varieties of herbs, roots, fruits and spices, macerated in alcohol, and has been a trade secret guarded, jealously, since its inception. A brand that appeals especially to young people because of its more harmonious taste than a traditional bitter, it has often been mentioned in songs, participating as an extra in numerous films, confirming its modernity. It is consumed as a digestive, neat or on the rocks, but it also lends itself very well to the preparation of numerous cocktails.
A very intense and appealing dark brown color, it releases aromas of herbs, mint, orange peel and cinnamon, along with sensations of dried flowers and medicinal herbs. The taste is incredibly pleasant, delicate, and only slightly bitter, rich with fruity returns of dried figs and dates, toward a dry finish, with slight residual sugar, characterized by balsamic returns.
