Understanding nature

The particular climate of Castle Hall forced agronomists to devise a way to protect the grapes from the summer sun. The shoots are made to elongate and fold over the plant so that the leaves can shade the Pinot Noir clusters.

Climate

2018 was a year that tended to be cool and marked by light rainfall capable of promoting the proper development of the vine’s growing cycle. January was mild with little rain, while late February and early March were characterized by below-average temperatures and snowfall, followed by above-normal rainfall that helped rebalance soil water reserves. The tendentially warm climate, marked by excellent temperature fluctuations from July through August, favored slow and regular ripening. The Pinot Noir harvest began the first week of September with healthy, ripe grapes characterized by excellent freshness and flavor profile.
