Castello di Neive Dolcetto d’Alba Doc 2022
Castello di Neive winery proudly presents its Dolcetto d’Alba 2022, a wine that embodies the tradition, experience and excellence of Neive wine production. That’s what makes this new product unique:
History and Territory:
- Founded in the 1960s by Italo Stupino, Castello di Neive owns 60 hectares, of which 27 are vineyards and 20 are hazelnut groves.
- The famous winemaker Louis Oudart, in 1862, won a gold medal in London with a dry wine “Neive” made from Nebbiolo grapes.
Production and Enology:
- Today, winemaker Claudio Roggero has been curating the wines for more than 30 years, maintaining the tradition of excellence.
- Aging takes place in modern winemaking cellars.
Wine Characteristics:
- Blend of grapes from different vineyards in the Neive area.
- Soil belonging to the “Lequio Formations” (Tortonian-Serravallian) characterized by layers of compact gray marls and sand.
- Grape varieties: 100% Dolcetto.
Characteristics of Cru:
- Exposure: East and south between 250 to 290 meters above sea level.
- Age of plants: 10 to 45 years.
Tasting Notes:
- Color: Intense ruby red with vivid violet hues.
- Nose: Fresh, with distinct hints of fruit and flowers.
- Taste: Soft, slightly almondy, no sharp edges, very versatile and suitable for all typical Piedmontese appetizers and first courses.
