• The vineyards that give birth to Châteauneuf-du-Pape Haute Pierre Rouge 2019 extend mainly in the commune of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, as well as in four other surrounding communes: Bédarrides, Courthézon, Orange and Sorgues.

Soil:

• The terroir is characterized by alluvial terraces composed of red clay, sand and quartz, which give the wine complexity and structure.

Grape varieties:

• The composition of the wine features 90% Grenache, known for its generosity and richness, accompanied by 10% Syrah, which adds depth and complexity.

Vinification:

• Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks for ten days, followed by maceration for eight to ten days to best extract the characteristics of the grape varieties. Next, the wine is racked and pressed, and then undergoes malolactic fermentation in vats.

Refinement:

• After fermentation, the wine matures for 14-16 months in barrels, a combination of new and one-year-old barrels, to develop complexity and harmony.

Tasting Notes:

• The 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Haute Pierre Rouge shows a garnet red color. On the nose, it offers intense, spicy aromas that highlight powerful matter. In the mouth, the tannins are fine and compact, with a broad, concentrated flavor that fades into a lingering licorice finish.
