Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, on the rolling hills enclosed between the Greve and Pesa valleys, and covers 319 hectares of land, with about 130 hectares under vine. Among its vineyards are two treasures: the Tignanello vineyard and the Solaia vineyard, which lie on the same hillside, on soils derived from Pliocene marine marl with limestone and shale, and enjoy warm days and cool nights during the growing season.
Climate
The year 2020 in Chianti Classico began with a mild, dry winter and, only in the latter part of March, was marked by a brief cold spell; these climatic conditions favored an early budding of the vines. An averagely rainy and rather cool spring preceded a warm summer, free of thermal extremes, and characterized by a few rainfall events that allowed the clusters to grow optimally. The month of September, during which harvesting operations began, was marked especially in its final part by light rains that favored the completion of phenolic ripening of the grapes. The harvest began around September 20 with Sangiovese and ended on October 9 with Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vinification
Upon arrival at the winery, the clusters were destemmed and then softly crushed; the must was transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place, which lasted about a week. Maceration was managed with very gentle pumping over and délestage so as to ensure an intense extraction but at the same time able to preserve the elegance and sweetness of the tannins. At the end of malolactic fermentation, which took off spontaneously by the end of the year, the blended wine continued the aging period in French and Hungarian oak barrels for about a year. Marchese Antinori was then bottled and aged in the bottle for an additional 12 months.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red in color, Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2020 stands out on the nose for fresh notes of red fruit alternating with floral sensations of mallow and lavender. In the rich bouquet, striking sweet hints of white chocolate alternate with spicy aromas. On the palate, the soft, enveloping entry continues into an elegant taste with vibrant tannins, showing the typical energy of the vineyards of origin and introducing a long, flavorful and persistent finish where notes of white pepper, flowers and cocoa powder re-emerge.
