In 1870, Maurice Hennessy created an assemblage of Cognac exclusively for his family and close friends, composed of eaux-de-vie from the “Grande Réserve” and aged for over ten years. He named it X.O. This Hennessy Cognac quickly became a success. Today, Hennessy X.O is the world’s best-selling and a reference in the world of great traditional Cognacs. The term X.O has become an appellation, but Hennessy X.O was the first, authentic “Extra Old” Cognac.

It is an assemblage of about a hundred eaux-de-vie from the first four crus of Cognac, some of which date back to the early 20th century.

Hennessy Cognac XO has a delicate gold color, a rich and generous aroma with complex notes of ripe fruit, oak, spices, leather and a delicate floral scent. On the palate, the taste is both elegant and structured, with strong aromas of the renowned “rancio” and slightly peppery. Perfect to savor straight or “on the rocks.”
