Bacco d’Oro Alta Langa DOCG Brut Contract
ALTA LANGA DOCG BRUT
SOFT, CREAMY, INTENSE
A historic sparkling wine from the Contratto winery, Bacco d’Oro is the only metered sparkling wine produced by Contratto. The nose shows intense hints of peach blossom, honey and dried fruit. Creamy and enveloping, the palate gives notes of ripe fruit and citrus and marzipan.
80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay
After destemming, the grapes go through the press without being crushed. From draining the berries, we obtain the flower must, which is the most valuable part of the juice. The first fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks; this is followed by about 9 months of aging, also in steel, and finally bottling. Second fermentation in the bottle is followed by at least 48 months of aging on the lees. Remuage is done manually.

Around 1940, the Contratto family carried out a promotional campaign offering its customers the chance to win the coveted “Bacco d’Oro,” a small 18-karat gold coin placed between the cork and the cap of the Riserva Bacco d’Oro sparkling wine. This precious gift was included with every hundred bottles of the wine of the same name.
