Del Grillo Organic Basil Ready Sauce
Ingredients: Siccagno tomato puree (98%) onion, evo oil, salt, brown sugar, basil (0.08%) and chili pepper.
Grillo’s ready-made basil sauce is made from organically grown tomatoes grown on the family’s land located in the towns of Alcamo and Vita (TP).
The structure of the soils is sandy and the low water supply means that the tomato (called precisely siccagno) ripens and develops only with the natural moisture brought by the temperature range between day and night, favored by an average altitude of 400 meters above sea level.
When they reach the right degree of ripeness, they are harvested and selected strictly by hand and processed without the addition of preservatives. Once the tomato pssata is obtained, they go to prepare a sauté made with extra virgin olive oil, onion, salt, chili pepper, brown sugar and a few leaves of fresh basil, mix everything together and cook for about 20 minutes at a temperature of 60° to maintain the organoleptic properties of the raw material and the final product. Finally, pasteurization takes place to ensure its shelf life.
