Depaz Cuvée Prestige Rhum XO (New Pack) Cl 70
The history of Depaz has its roots in the La Montagne agricultural estate, founded back in 1651 by Jacues Duparuet, the island’s first governor. This fertile land initially used for tobacco cultivation and animal husbandry soon became an ideal place for sugarcane cultivation and rum production. The Depaz family, with Victor Depaz at the forefront, contributed significantly to the renown of Martinique rum and the reputation of Saint Pierre, the “Little Paris of the Antilles,” until the devastating volcano eruption in 1902.
After the tragedy, Victor Depaz undertook the construction of a new mansion on the ruins of the former home and developed the rums that would forever bear his name. The distillery then passed into the hands of sons André and Raoul in the 1950s, who began the modernization process that led to the Depaz distillery of today.
Method of Production: Depaz rums are made using only the pure juice of freshly harvested sugarcane, which is quickly transported to the distillery for processing. The cane is pressed immediately to preserve the fresh and characteristic aromas of the juice. Distillation takes place in two creole copper columns, producing a pure juice rum with an intense aromatic richness typical of agricoles rhums from Martinique.
