Domaine Fernand Engel Riesling Réserve 2021 Bio
The Fernand Engel estate covers 62 hectares, farmed entirely organically, partly because of Fernand’s son Bernard’s very strong allergy to the synthetic products used in the vineyard until then. Once again, the angel of the family protects the Engels when part of the cellar is destroyed by fire. The winery’s wines come from vineyards spread across eight villages in the region, including four Alsatian Grand Crus. The Engels grow the region’s classic grape varieties from which they produce sweet, dry and even sparkling wines.
Engel’s still wines, both sweet and dry, ferment spontaneously and slowly, remaining for many months on the lees.
Tasting Notes: This Riesling Réserve 2021 Bio is straw yellow in color, with greenish highlights. The nose is intense with floral notes, hints of citrus and hints of peach. The palate is elegant, fresh, with good minerality and balance.
Pairings: The freshness and liveliness of this wine make it an ideal companion for cold appetizers. Also excellent with seafood, fish dishes and Alsatian choucroute.
