Fee Brothers Bitter Grapefruit Aromatic Vol. 17% 150 ml
tory:
Back in 1835, Fee Owen, a 31-year-old Irishman, landed in America, starting a success story that would leave an indelible mark on cocktail history. In 1847, Owen opened a butcher store in Rochester, New York, and in 1864, his son James opened a grocery store with a wide selection of California and European wines, spirits, and liquors. In 1883, the remaining brothers officially founded Fee Brothers, although they faced many challenges over the years.
Prohibition and Revival:
In 1908, a fire destroyed the Rochester neighborhood where Fee Brothers’ warehouse was located, and in 1919, the advent of Prohibition threatened the company. However, the Fee family showed commercial ingenuity, starting to sell large containers of concentrated grape must to make homemade wine, and producing syrups also used to create liqueurs. With the end of Prohibition in 1933, the company caught its breath and continued to grow.
Evolution and Innovation:
In the 1970s, Fee Brothers abandoned wine importing to focus on liquor and bitters production. In 1995, the company renewed all labels, creating new offerings to meet the growing demand for bitters in the market.
