Gin is an alcoholic beverage that owes its taste to juniper berries and was developed based on the Jenever drink, which is the traditional juniper-based liquor that originated in Holland and Belgium. This drink began to become popular in the United Kingdom when the Dutch leader William of Orange occupied the Scottish and English thrones with his consort Mary.
William of Orange enacted statutes encouraging the distillation of alcoholic beverages, and the volume of gin produced soon exceeded that of beer.
And so it was that British distilleries began producing their own version of “Genever” and shortened the name to “Gin” giving birth to a medicinal elixir that later developed into what we currently know, and love: the Gin & Tonic .
Our Gin Sale is a distillate of pure Juniper, made to measure , like a tailor-cut suit to which we have added a pinch of sea salt.
The production of this salt, which used to be called WHITE GOLD, so rare, precious and important it was, amplified and increased over the centuries to such an extent that it gave rise to a real fleet of boats called ” schifazzi ” whose name seems to be the definition of “big boat,” in fact in Sicily the so-called “Schifo” was defined as a boat, so “Schifazzo” was the biggest one.
These boats transported salt to the Sicilian, Calabrian, and Apulian coasts.
Today these places constitute a source of income and tourist attraction for our city of Marsala, a city known worldwide moreover for its noble wine and for the landing of the Garibaldians.
These places represent an environmental unicum among the most distinctive in the Mediterranean.

It was the 1980s when Mr. Pino Bianchi bought the largest of the Mediterranean ” schifazzi ” and transformed it from a Salt transport boat to an elegant pleasure craft.

Named ” Soledad,” this boat played an important role in the creative process of the Bianchi family’s activities.

Our Gin is the ideal companion for a cocktail with surprising flavor, and thanks to the use of Salt, it acquires a savory, sunny taste and lends itself to be enhanced by the addition of tonic and sage, rosemary or mint leaves, capable of releasing the brackish notes of Gin Sale and combining them with the Mediterranean scents of botanical herbs.
