Glenfarclas 12 Years Old Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky cl 70
Glenfarclas-in Gaelic, “the valley of green pastures”-spans the foothills of Ben Rinnes Mountain in Speyside. It was here in 1836 that the Glenfarclas distillery was built, which some 30 years later, in 1865, was purchased by the Grant family. Today the sixth generation of the family, in the person of George Grant, leads the distillery. The last one proudly remaining independent of the big global beverage groups.
Three main ingredients are needed to produce Glenfarclas: pure, cold, crystal-clear water from the natural springs of Mount Ben Rinnes, barley entirely produced in Scotland’s Moray area, and yeast. After distillation, which is always carried out by small batches, the Whisky is placed to rest in the best Sherry oak barrels in Spain: in fact, Glenfarclas has remained the only distillery to use predominantly Sherry barrels (a practice that is now more unique than rare, as well as very expensive, and which gives the product a very special, rich, fruity and spicy taste).
Throughout its history, Glenfarclas Distillery has won countless international awards. In 2006, it sealed its 170th anniversary with the industry’s most coveted Distiller of the Year award from Whisky Magazine.
