Grottaia Caccia Al Piano Vermentino 2020
IGT TUSCAN VERMENTINO
The 2020 vintage was characterized by a relatively mild winter with sudden drops in temperature. Warm, dry spring days encouraged rapid sprouting, and the water availability of the soils allowed the vines to develop well during the summer months. August’s temperature swings brought the grapes to excellent ripeness, and the rains at the end of the month and the subsequent drop in temperatures rebalanced the vines from a water standpoint. The harvest began in the first days of September.
The grapes, hand-picked in small 12-kg crates, were placed intact in the press where they underwent a soft pressing. The obtained must, transferred to stainless steel, underwent alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of 12 to 14 °C for two weeks. Finally, the wine was aged on its lees for several months before bottling, which takes place in the spring following the harvest.
Straw yellow in color, it is fresh on the nose, with fruity aromas of pineapple and white peach enriched by notes of white flowers with a predominance of hawthorn. The palate is fresh and mineral with a soft, savory finish supported by balanced acidity.
Ideal with fish dishes, white meats, soft cheeses and vegetable crudités . Also good as an aperitif.
