Villa Antinori 2022 Igt Toscana White Ryder Cup Marchese Antinori
A historic white, introduced in 1931 by Marchese Niccolò Antinori, capable of representing the Tuscan territory through the union of traditional and non-traditional grapes and a fresh and elegant bouquet but with a distinct character.
Climate
The 2022 vintage was characterized by a mild winter with little rain. Vine sprouting began in early April, a few days later than in 2021, due to low temperatures during that period. The month of May was marked by warm, sunny days with higher-than-average temperatures ensuring rapid vine development and promoting early flowering, which occurred in the last decade of the month. The generally warm and dry weather throughout the summer was interspersed with a few rainy events starting in mid-August, allowing ripening to get off to a good start. The harvest, like last year, began in the last week of August for Pinot Grigio, continued with Pinot Blanc and Riesling Renano around September 15, and then concluded with Trebbiano Toscano from the middle of the month onward.
Vinification
The harvested grapes were destemmed and gently pressed. The obtained must was cooled to a temperature of 10 °C to promote its natural clarification; after 48 hours, it was transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a temperature not exceeding 18 °C. The wine was stored in steel tanks at a temperature of 10°C until bottling that took place from November 2022.
Historical Data
Villa Antinori Bianco represents one of the historic wines of the Antinori family. It was first produced with the 1931 vintage by Niccolò Antinori; since then the label has remained virtually unchanged, as has the production philosophy, which is geared toward representing its land of origin.
Tasting Notes
Villa Antinori Bianco has a straw-yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose is intense and fine: sensations of orange blossom combine well with fruity aromas reminiscent of pineapple, Golden apple and banana. The palate is fresh, pleasantly taut, marked by an enveloping taste and a mineral finish.
