HISTORY: Hepple Gin was born together with five prominent figures in the blending and restaurant world, among them Nick Strangeway, Valentine Warner, and master distiller Chris Garden, previously involved in the Sipsmith distillery.
The town of Hepple lies in one of England’s most botanically rich areas, where green juniper is harvested. An innovative three-level process is used to extract all the essence of this lush land.
PRODUCT: The starting alcohol base is a traditional gin, where the heavier botanicals are distilled together with the grain in a batch still. Next, the most delicate ones are vacuum distilled separately so as to capture the essence of each one. Finally, green juniper is extracted using a special high-pressure CO2 machine to reach the heart of the plant while preserving its characteristics intact. The result of the second and third passes is then combined with the gin spilled from the first still.
PROFILE: The nose opens with scents of apples, grapefruit and juniper. Evolves on the palate with an unexpected hint of melon. The finish is long, with juniper revealing its predominant role with notes of sandalwood, cedar, licorice and black currant.
