THEORY: Kyoto Distillery is Japan’s first craft gin distillery. each of its gins is inspired by Japanese tradition, using only products and customs from the area between Kyoto and Hokkaido. Every detail down to the smallest detail is painstakingly and carefully crafted in the Eastern tradition to be perfect.
PRODUCT: This Limited Edition of Kinobi produced using an ancient Oriental tradition of inserting inside Sake, edible gold leaves, to create a product suitable for a special moment such as New Year’s Eve, weddings, festivals. In keeping with Kinobi tradition, gold is purchased at Kyoto’s most historic and important producer, namely “Horikin” established in 1711. “Kin no bi” literally means ” The gold of beauty.” In fact, the gold infused into the Dry Gin, is a chromatic decoration rather than an aromatic one, however, giving it richness combined with the limited run. The label also in this release was created in collaboration with Kyoto’s historic Karakami atelier Kira Karacho, dating back to 1624.
PROFILE: KIN NO BI is the classic Kinobi dry gin, already recognized as one or the best gins in the world, for its unique flavor profile, thanks to the use of traditional botanicals such as Yuzu, Cypress, Shiso, Bamboo leaves, Ginger and the use of gyokuro green tea as well as sancho pepper, into which thin leaves of food-grade pure gold are inserted. Gold succeeds despite having no flavor profile to give a slightly mineral sensation, probably derived from visual interaction.
