A glorious and classic Lagavulin, with an intensity, a flavor and a sweetness that are perfectly balanced as the fragrant wood smoke rises to envelop them all; absolutely delicious.
APPEARANCE
Bright golden straw.
BODY
Medium.
NOSE
Sweet, dry and quick, wonderfully aromatic; clean, fresh and maritime, with top notes of sea air and Himalayan salt, supported by fragrant dried Lapsang Souchong tea with smoke, mineral salts and light cleansing ointment. Beneath these drier notes of cocoa powder and dried seaweed, with a splash of lemon zest, this salty sweetness drenched in wood smoke from a distant bonfire on the shore.
PALATE
The consistency is smooth and pleasantly oily; the sweet taste to start then soon growling with an intense lemon acidity, with a sprinkle of sea salt and persistent char that speaks with every sip. The overall sweet-salty taste is round, softened and sweetened by a drop of water.
FINAL
Long, with great waves of smoke, and roaring with the heat of the chili. Even better with a drop of water. The smoke lasts wonderfully in the aftertaste.
