Roagna Langhe Rosso 2014 Docg cl 75
Pajè is one of Barbaresco’s historic vineyards and is located in the center of the village’s vineyard area. It is particularly rich in calcareous marls, with a high content of active limestone. It opens onto the valley of the Tanaro River, which mitigates cold winters and hot summers. It is a small tongue of land facing southwest.
Pira is historical mention of Castiglione Falletto, facing southeast on the Serralunga and Perno side. This vineyard grew out of the breakup of the Rocche. It has very complex soils consisting of limestone rock, gray and blue marls and sands.
It is a geographical mention monopoly of our family since 1989, when it was purchased.
Young plants up to 20 to 25 years of age are used for this wine. The vines are exclusively of mass origin, with wood obtained in pruning from the same vineyards.
Harvesting is done manually in October, at perfect physiological ripeness, in small boxes. Before being vinified, the grapes follow 2 manual selections to check the perfect integrity of the fruit.
Fermentation takes place exclusively in wooden vats, thanks to a pied de cuve of Indigenous yeasts. It lasts for about ten days. The ancient maceration technique of submerged cap splinting is then applied, which lasts at least 2 months (60 days).
The wine matures in a neutral oak barrel for about five years.
