Leclerc Briant Champagne Extra Brut Reserve Cl 75
Leclerc-Briant has been a certified “domaine en biodynamie” since 2004 (the first experiments had still started in the early 1950s).
It all originated in 1872: Lucien Leclerc created Domaine Leclerc in Cumières with 2 hectares of vineyards. In 1955 Bertrand Leclerc with his wife Jacquleline Briant founded the current Maison in Epernay.
The winery thrived for many years until Lucien Leclerc’s sudden death in 2010 when the winery was the largest biodynamic winery in Champagne. Two years later, an American couple fell in love with this historic winery and embarked on a rebirth that found sap and personality precisely in its biodynamic origins and total respect for the land and products. The leadership of the Maison is entrusted to Frederick Zeimett, with long experience at Moet and Pommery and the advice of Hervé Jestin, a true master of biodynamics and a longtime chef de cave at Duval-Leroy.
The products all enjoy very low dosages (apart from the Demisec, of course) and the result is crisp, fine, very pure but surprisingly drinkable wines: far removed from some unlikely biodynamics. Still tying in with a tradition specific to Leclerc-Briant, the new management turns to single vineyard winemaking, obtaining champagnes with strong personalities: Les Selectiones Parcellaires. Latest is the Brut Zéro Blanc de Meuniers, from a one-hectare parcel in Epernay. Passionate and exciting wines.
