Climate trend
The autumn of 2019 at Castello di Nipozzano was rainy, this allowed the creation of a good water reserve in the substrates of the vineyards. The winter was marked by rather mild temperatures. Spring also recorded temperatures above seasonal averages. This situation fostered a surprising vegetative-productive balance. A very favorable climatic situation that, together with cool night temperatures, ensured strength and health of the vines from budding to harvest. The grapes were then accompanied to ripening by an optimal situation, arriving at harvest in perfect sanitary condition. The 2020 vintage enhances the characteristics of this extraordinary “terroir,” thanks to a strong acidic streak and an important sugar supply.

Vinification and maturation
The grapes, as soon as they were harvested, were immediately delivered to the winery. Here once destemmed, the spontaneous fermentation process took place in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. At the end of this, the wine remained in the vats to finish maceration. Following racking, malo-lactic fermentation took place, again conducted in steel. At the end of the year the wine was racked into barrels, where it matured for the next several months. Further time in bottle allowed Nipozzano 2020 to express itself to the fullest, making it a wine of exceptional expressive balance.
Tasting Notes
Nipozzano 2020 is ruby red of medium intensity, very clear. On the nose, it debuts with intense fruity hints of berries and cherries, followed by crisp floral notes of violets. Fresh and balsamic it has pleasant spicy undertones of pepper, nutmeg and roasted arabica coffee. In the mouth it is satisfying, harmonious, fresh, fruity and mineral, with a dense and silky tannic texture. Remarkable taste-olfactory correspondence, Nipozzano always amazes with its extraordinary pleasantness that meets the taste of a wide and heterogeneous audience of consumers. The finish is pleasantly persistent and balanced in its various components.
