Nipozzano Riserva 2019
Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG
An emblematic wine from Castello Nipozzano, a historic Frescobaldi estate a few kilometers northeast of Florence, Nipozzano Riserva is
the symbol of the Tuscan winemaking tradition and the unbreakable bond with terroir.
At Castle Nipozzano, winter 2019 was characterized by long periods of sunshine with low temperatures. The spring was cool instead, the rains that fell ensured good water reserves to better cope with the hot summer days. The summer period was characterized by temperature ranges that helped provide coolness at night, especially helped by the usual breezes from the slopes of the Apennines. The grapes were thus accompanied to ripening by a combination of warmth from the sun and refreshing breezes; the clusters arrived at harvest in perfect sanitary condition, and production was expressed in wines typical of the area, marked by a good acid vein and silky tannins.

Vinification and maturation
The grapes, as soon as they were harvested, were immediately delivered to the winery. Here once destemmed, the spontaneous fermentation process took place in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. At the end of this, the wine remained in the vats to finish maceration. Following racking, malo-lactic fermentation took place, again conducted in steel. At the end of the year the wine was racked into barrels, where it matured for the next several months. Additional time in bottle allowed Nipozzano 2019 to express itself to the fullest, making it a wine of exceptional expressive balance.
Tasting Notes
Nipozzano 2019 shows a vibrant ruby red color. The nose is characterized by fruity scents such as berries, black cherry and elegant floral notes; wonderful freshness expressed through balsamic hints. This is followed by roasted and spicy notes of pepper, nutmeg and coffee. The palate is rich, characterized by the elegant density of the fruit and the final mineral freshness that make it balanced and persistent. The tannic texture is thick but not scratchy. Wonderful taste-olfactory correspondence.
