An evocative dram, tinged with spice but also suffused with sunlight, out of the ordinary while remaining a fine representative of Oban’s understated, easy-drinking style.
An original Oban from nontraditional casks that has much to say about itself as it skillfully weaves together the lighter and darker traits of this famous bridge between Highland and Island single malt styles.

Light and bright gold.

BODY

Medium.

NOSE
Soft, with elusive but unmistakably maritime top notes of crisp edible seaweed, crystal salt, and coarse black pepper on a wooden trench, perhaps accompanied by lightly smoked white fish fillets. After a while, a spoonful of sweet chili sauce is added to the dish while with a dash of water, light olive oil becomes the top note.

PALATE

Very soft, smooth and enveloping in texture, the taste is fruity and slightly citrusy, balanced by a hint of salt on the midpalate and an insistent but never intrusive spiciness of freshly charred barrels. The effect is lush and vigorous, with a great balance between crisp wood spices and the fresh, fruity character of the distillery. Remaining sweet throughout, it is delicious neat, while a drop of water slightly rounds out the flavors, enhancing the fruity notes.

FINAL

Quite long, closing spicy with a sprinkle of pepper. The water carries a pleasant soft warmth in the aftertaste, as if to announce a last glimmer of light.
