Talisker
, on the Isle of Skye, is the only distillery on the island , built in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill , near Port Askaid on the sea at Loch Harport. Skye represents the climate and nature of this island ; savory and fresh with a finish of peat and wood .
Talisker Skye carries a round and sweet flavor profile rich in fresh citrus, sweet smoke, peppery spices and traditional Talisker maritime notes. It is matured in a combination of refill and toasted American oak barrels, with a slightly higher proportion of toasted barrels.
OUTWARD APPEARANCE
Brilliant 18K gold with polished copper lights.
BODY
Medium-bodied and softly textured.
NOSE
The first glorious citrus sweetness of fresh oranges develops into soft mango. The maritime air with algae, wood, and salt continues below.
PALATE
Soft and sweet at first, coating and tingling on the tongue, with light smoke. It quickly becomes more pungent and savory with a piquant spiciness.
FINAL
Drier and of medium length, with a lingering, smooth aftertaste in which there are slight burnt embers of peat.
Suggestion on portions:
It should be served in a Talisker Rocks Glass, neat or with a little water.
