Pierre Péters Champagne Extra Brut Grand Cru cl 75
Pierre Péters has been a Récoltant-Manipulant house for six generations. The company is based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. The history of this maison began in 1858 when Gaspar Péters, a native of Luxembourg, married a young woman from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger who owned a few hectares of vineyards. It was only in 1919 that Camille, Gaspar Péters’ nephew, decided to produce and market bottles on his own. Today the Pierre Péters maison, which has been named after Camille’s eldest son since 1944, owns 19 hectares of vineyards in the Côte des Blancs region and more precisely in the villages of Mesnil sur Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant. Pierre Péters champagnes are all classified as Grand Cru, produced with Chardonnay (Blanc de Blancs) with the exception of Champagne Rosé “Rosé for Albane”. The vineyards of the Pierre Péters company have an average age of 30-45 years and are located in a terroir characterized by an important chalky component. Pierre Péters champagnes are characterized by the balance and aromas of Chardonnay, giving the final taste the finesse of the terroir.
Cuvée EXTRA BRUT
Champagne Blancs de Blancs – Grand Cru
Actually a vintage wine from a high quality harvest year, this Champagne blend comes from four Grand cru vineyards in Côtes de Blancs.
Blend of a selection of four plots of the best wines of the Côte des Blancs (Le Mesnil, Avize, Cramant, Oger), to which they add about 20% of the best vats of Riserva Perpetua.
This cuvée matures at least 36 months on the lees before disgorging.
The wine is crystalline, the pale gold color shows green reflections characteristic of Chardonnay. The effervescence is regular offering a touch of persistent bubbles.
A first nose of white flowers that acquires complexity with the aeration on notes of white bread and toasted almonds to finish on splashes of sea and oyster shell
The attack is tense, very pure.
A first sensation of great finesse dominated by white flowers and fresh hazelnut.
Other notes of lemon and toasted follow.
The long finish reveals the typical chalk of Mesnil sur Oger, which gives this wine an almost saline and iodized character.
