Pinot Noir Tenuta San Michele 2017 Murgo
Pinot noir grapes do not give opulent, full-bodied wines, but they have more than any other the ability to “fix” the characteristics of the terroir. However, they require an environment that is compatible with the earliness of the harvest and in which the subtle and complex aromatic notes that are the main appeal of these wines can be preserved.
The decision to plant this vineyard was due to the great love that Murgo has for these grapes and the many ties that exist with Nerello Mascalese grapes. Experimental work since 1985 under the direction of oenologist Giacomo Tachis has confirmed a great vocation of the Etna area for these particular grapes, which only in a few places in the world find favorable conditions.
Since the first harvests they have noticed interesting results, and with the 2010 vintage the first bottling was made.
In the production technique they have tried to enhance the aromatic characteristics of the grapes and terroir as much as possible.
Compared with other Pinot Noir wines, the great minerality that subtly blends with soft but firm tannins and elegantly enhances red fruit and spice sensations is striking. You can also feel the presence of a sunny climate without detracting from the freshness and fragrance.
