Pol Roger Champagne Brut Réserve
All of the company’s know-how is revealed in its ability to reproduce a consistent blend in style and quality each year. Elegant and refined, the Brut Réserve cuvée is the champagne for all occasions.
Brut Réserve is an equal parts blend of the three champenois grape varieties: pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay from 30 different crus. Twenty-five percent reserve wines are used to produce this cuvée:
– Pinot Noir (which brings structure, body and power) is mainly produced from some of the best cru in the Montagne de Reims.
– Pinot Meunier (which provides freshness, roundness and fruitiness) comes from several crus in the Vallée de la Marne and the Epernay area.
– Chardonnay (adding its aromatic complexity, finesse, elegance and lightness) comes from Epernay and some of the best crus in the Côte des Blancs.
After four years of aging in the cellars, its style combines complexity, balance and distinction.
Vinification and Maturation
Once harvested, the grapes are immediately and gently pressed. The must undergoes a first débourbage (decantation) in the press and a second in our cellar, à froid (at 6°C) over 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a low temperature (18°C) in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, keeping each variety and each village’s production separate until final blending. All our wines undergo malolactic fermentation. After tasting, blending and bottling, secondary fermentation (prise de mousse) and maturation take place in the cool atmosphere of our cellars located 33 meters below street level. Each bottle is given the traditional remuage (hand remuage) before disgorgement and dosage, and the wines rest for a minimum of three months before release.
Tasting Notes
Pol Roger Brut Réserve shows a beautiful golden straw color, as well as abundant and fine bubbles. With a powerful and attractive nose, it first releases fruit aromas (pear, mango…) and then releases light flavors of honeysuckle and white jasmine, lingering on notes of vanilla and brioche. Behind a frank and dynamic attack, the wine packs a nice harmony and freshness, while retaining some structure. On the palate, cooked fruit flavors (quince jelly, apricot jam) mingle happily with scents of beeswax and acacia honey. Exceptional long-lasting aromas composed of both fruity (candied orange peel, tangerine…) and spicy (cardamom, anise) notes.
Food pairings
The structure and vinosity, elegance and freshness, captured in this Brut Réserve, offer an optimal balance between power and finesse, making it an outstanding wine to serve as an aperitif or to accompany an entire meal.
