Tasting Taylor’s Single Harvest 1961 offers an unforgettable moment, a memorable experience.
Walnut-brown core surrounded by a broad pale gold rim with olive highlights. Powerful nose of extraordinary complexity and opulence, revealing multiple nuances and dimensions of aroma.
The first to emerge is a sweet aroma of molasses, dried fig and raisins, mingling with marzipan hazelnut aromas. When the wine opens, scents of cedar wood and dried tobacco leaf appear, along with subtle spicy notes of black pepper and cardamom and a fleeting fresh hint of citrus.
All this is enveloped in a powerful aura of vanilla and oak aroma, the legacy of decades of barrel aging. In the mouth the wine is dense, round and concentrated, with a dense and velvety texture, quite rich and sweet on the midpalate but then lifted by a burst of fresh acidity on the finish, which is
rich with lingering flavors of caramel, almonds, orange marmalade and dried fruits. A well-balanced wine, still clean and fresh despite many years of aging in wood.
