Venica Ribolla Gialla L’Adelchi 2020
Ribolla Gialla Collio DOC – A Wine of the Heart
In 2007 the two brothers Gianni and Giorgio Venica, current owners of the winery, dedicated this wine to their father Adelchi. A thank you to all that he had left them: from the winery to the vineyards, to the valuable teachings, not only of the craft of winemaking.
It is a wine of the heart and thus represents the bond and the passing of the baton from one generation of the Venica family to the next.
VINE
Ribolla Gialla, a white grape variety, is indigenous to Friuli and is characterized by its clusters, which, when ripe, acquire a particularly warm and intense, almost golden color, from which the attribute “yellow” in the variety’s very name is derived. Very good to watch in the video at the bottom of this page.
This is a rather ancient grape variety with origins that are not well defined but nonetheless dated in Friuli-Venezia Giulia to the 13th-14th century. Some say it was present in the region since Roman times, others say this variety arrived from the Ionian Islands via Dalmatia, then part of the Venetian Republic.
Ribolla Gialla vineyards are located within the DOC Collio territory.

VINIFICATION | AGING
Following harvest, the grapes are macerated for about 14 hours at a temperature of 10°/12° C in special containers, protected from oxygen with innovative systems by recycling their own fermentation carbonics in order to reduce the intake of antioxidants.
The must ferments and ages on the lees for 5 months in both large 20/27 HL wooden barrels (60%) and steel containers (40%).
BOTTLING
Collio Ribolla Gialla wine was blended and bottled at full moons between late March and June 2020.
COLOR
Ribolla Gialla del Collio possesses a non-intense straw yellow color, tending to greenish reflections.
OLFACTORY NOTES.
The bouquet is pleasant, delicate but persuasive, with floral scents reminiscent of the forest, such as hawthorn and acacia flowers, chestnut and oak.
Fruity notes of golden apple, white peach, yellow plum, cedar peel and some honey nuances are also perceived.
TASTE NOTES.
The mouthfeel is very distinctive, fresh, dry, citrusy, medium alcohol content. It is characterized by a marked acidity, typical of the grape variety.
Well present are the citrus and the final mineral component.
