Bright ruby red in color, it is broad on the nose, with intense fragrances of red fruits such as cassis and blackberry. The palate is harmonious and emphasizes a sweet, full tannic balance perfectly complemented by good acidity. Fresh fruit binds to a light spiciness with a long finish supported by its aromatic complexity.

CLIMATE AND HARVEST
he 2018 vintage was characterized by a dynamic winter that in February recorded subzero temperatures for several days. The spring was marked by abundant rainfall that provided a good water supply. Weather conditions have definitely improved in the summer months, with average temperatures and excellent day-night temperature ranges, leading to a smooth start to the harvest for Caccia al Piano 1868 vineyards.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION
Harvest began on August 20 for part of the merlot, and then ended in the third decade of September for our later variety, cabernet sauvignon. The grapes were harvested by hand and placed in 12-kg boxes, with separate picking by variety and plot. Careful selection of grapes preceded destemming, which was followed by maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. At this stage, alcoholic fermentation began, which lasted for about two weeks, followed by racking and malolactic fermentation. After 18 months of maturation in barrels, the individual batches were blended and the wine was aged for an additional 6 months in the bottle.
DESCRIPTIVE NOTES
Bright ruby red in color, the nose expresses intense hints of red fruits, ripe cherry and blackberry, accompanied by delicate spicy notes of licorice. The mouth entry is full, soft and finely tannic, with a satisfying sip and a pleasantly vigorous finish
