Bright ruby ​​red in color, it is broad on the nose, with intense fragrances of red fruits such as cassis and blackberry. On the palate it is harmonious and emphasizes a sweet and full tannic balance perfectly integrated with good acidity. Fresh fruit binds to a slight spiciness with a long finish supported by its aromatic complexity.

Merlot 65%, Cabernet Sauvignon 25%, Syrah 5%, Petit Verdot 5%.

CLIMATE AND HARVEST

the 2018 vintage was characterized by a dynamic winter which in February recorded temperatures below zero for several days. Spring was characterized by abundant rainfall which allowed a good water reserve. The climatic conditions significantly improved in the summer months, with average temperatures and excellent temperature variations between day and night which led to a regular start of harvest for the Caccia al Piano 1868 vineyards.

VINIFICATION AND MATURATION

The harvest began on August 20 for a part of the Merlot, and then ended in the third decade of September for our latest variety, Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes were harvested by hand and placed in 12 kg boxes, with separate harvesting by variety and plot. A careful selection of the grapes preceded the destemming, followed by the maceration phase in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. In this phase, alcoholic fermentation began, which lasted for about two weeks, followed by racking and malolactic fermentation. After 18 months of aging in barriques, the individual batches were blended and the wine was aged for a further 6 months in the bottle.

DESCRIPTIVE NOTES

Bright ruby ​​red in color on the nose, it expresses intense hints of red fruits, ripe cherries and blackberries, accompanied by delicate spicy notes of licorice. The mouthfeel is full, soft and finely tannic, with a satisfying sip and a pleasantly vigorous finish
