Rum Skeldon 2000 El Dorado Rare Collection SWR
After World War II, eight of Guyana’s last nine distilleries were closed; Demerara Distillers is the only one left in operation and today houses stills from decommissioned distilleries.
The decision to keep the stills was as far-sighted as ever on the part of legendary ‘Chairman’ Yesu Persaud, in order to be able to continue to produce these different typicalities of the country’s tradition.
After the great success of the Rare Collections, Demerara Distillers is now on its third release with the new Skeldon 2000 and Albion 2004.
SKELDON 2000 (SWR): the SWR mark was historically produced by the Skeldon Sugar Estate with the Blair continuous still. Skeldon Distillery was decommissioned in 1960 but production of the SWR mark was successfully replicated at the Uitvlught distillery using a Savalle continuous column. Following the latter’s closure, the column was transferred to Diamond Distillery.
