Hampden Estate Overproof Rum 60° cl 70
Hampden Estate, arguably the best distillery in the world, is marketing its aged rums for the first time in 265 years and has signed a worldwide distribution agreement with La Maison Velier to do so.
HAMPDEN DISTILLERY | One of the best distilleries in the world
Trelawny, the area where the distillery is located, historically represents the grand cru of Jamaican rum and is characterized by incredible biodiversity. The distillery is a few miles from Cockpit Country, a pristine area where as many as 26 native bird species and Jamaica’s last crocodiles are found. Founded in 1753, Hampden is arguably the best distillery in the world today, and we base this statement on 5 objective and fundamental considerations:
Use of own spring water in different stages of production.
Prolonged fermentation using wild yeasts. Production follows techniques in use since the 17th century that result in high ester value and give the product a unique flavor profile
Distillation exclusively in pot still.
Tropical aging; both references distributed by Velier are aged more than 7 years in Jamaica, which is equivalent to aging about 25 years in Europe.
Natural color and no added sugars in the rum.
Coming from what could be considered the best distillery in the world, Hampden Estate Overproof is composed of several distillery “marks” with a high level of esters, bottled without any additives, but most importantly no added sugar. The Overproof version is bottled at 60°. Aged 100 percent in the distillery’s warehouse.
