Rum Matusalem 15 yo Gran Reserva
Matusalem Gran Reserva
is a rum made from sugarcane molasses aged for
15
years by the solera method; it is therefore a blend of rums from different vintages whose maximum aging is 15/23 years. Until 1959 in Cuba, Matusalem was exclusively the Gran Reserva Metodo Solera 15-year-old, much more expensive than its competitors but with 50 percent market share. Called the “Ron’s Cognac,” it was Hemingway’s favorite, with which the legendary writer prepared his Cuba Libre, the Gran Cuba Libre.
