The Antigua Distillery Heavy 2012 Rum
On June 20, 2017, Luke traveled to Antigua hoping to find something special among the 4,000 barrels in stock at the Antigua Distillery. As fate would have it, due to a rupture in the coffey still column, a ready-to-distill fermentation remained a few extra days in the fermentation vats, producing a rum with a level of esters that was totally unusual by the distillery’s standards. A stock of 27 really special barrels that Luca did not let slip away. The first bottling in the distillery’s history in partnership.
The bottling selected by Luca Gargano for Velier’s 70th anniversary is the first single cask ever released by the distillery.
A rum distilled in the
2012
with 68.9 % abv, aged in ex bourbon cask, with 44% angel share and 212 gr/hlap of esters.
Once again a world premiere.
