Southern Comfort 1 Lt
Southern Comfort is among the top 20 best-selling brands of Spirits in the United States and distributed by Fratelli Branca Distillerie.
It was created in 1874 from a whiskey-based recipe made more “comfortable” in drinking by a mix of ingredients including orange, vanilla and cinnamon that give it a sweet and spicy flavor.
The invention came from bartender Martin Wilkes Heron, who had to give his customers at the “McCauley Tavern,” dissatisfied with the harshness of whiskey, something that could be pleasantly savored: a product with a rounder taste that would give precisely “Comfort” to those who drank it.
Southern Comfort was born in the famous French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana, and contributed to its myth as a vibrant and mysterious city, one of the southernmost in the United States-hence the adjective “Southern.”
New Orleans is home today to the “Tales of the Cocktail,” the world’s most important Spirits show, Souther Comfort can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks, but having been created by a bartender, it has versatility as its best weapon and is therefore used in many cocktails.
