Pietradolce Contrada Santo Spirito Etna Rosso 2017
It is between Solicchiata and Passopisciaro, on the northern slope of Etna, that Pietradolce is located, founded and run by the Faro family and divided into three different plots. 20 hectares of property, between 600 and 900 meters above sea level, consisting of vines that have between 50 and 65 of nerello mascalese predominantly with a small part planted to Carricante, from a 120-year-old pre-phylloxera vineyard, from whose grapes the Archineri Etna Bianco and Sant’Andrea are vinified. Pietradolce’s philosophy is to respect individual terroirs, vinifying grapes separately and thus enhancing the smallest nuances. Soils of a sandy-loam nature with abundant presence of mineral elements, a gift of Etna, give the wines unique peculiarities where the true standard-bearer is the Vigna Barbagalli, from nearly 100-year-old pre-phylloxera sapling vines. A great love for their land: this is the philosophy behind the work of the Faro family, which after only ten years confirms itself among the greatest interpreters of this extraordinary land.
