According to legend, when the tides in Talisker Bay flowed with unusual force, a luminous creature was drawn from the darkest depths, flooding the darkness of the deep sea with its captivating glow. This powerful luminescence was carried by the storm lashed currents to the Talisker distillery, illuminating its newly created spirit. Even in this spirit, the vivid brightness shone through, its classic smokiness fading before a radiant wave of spicy sweetness rarely seen.

On the shores of Loch Harport, near the western edge of the rugged Isle of Skye, legends easily ring true. Standing apart, its new brand spirit cooled by the sea, Talisker has forged its own maritime destiny here since 1830. Sweet, salty, thunderous and smoky, as elemental as land, sea or storm, this is a whiskey for the wild at heart, made from the sea.

Light shines in every element here. In a deep golden glow, salty, smoky hints of a beach bonfire give the mild nose a maritime feel. The first filling of ex-bourbon barrels gives layers of bright flavor, softly oily texture, sweet and smoky-spicy flavor, salty and fruity, like an orchard in sea mist. Peaty power appears in the chili-spiced catch of the long finish. This is a legendary Talisker of ethereal beauty.

Elemental in character but also classic: the smokiness of the sea malt melds gently with a tide of spicy sweetness to form a salty monster that is truly “Made by the Sea.”
First-fill ex-bourbon barrels give layers of flavor; a bright spicy sweetness bathes notes of smoke and sea stirred by the storm in its irresistible glow.
To be served neat, pour 60 ml of Talisker 11YO into a whiskey glass.

NOSE

In a maritime feel, with a slight hint of spice, the first impression suggests a beach bonfire of dried seaweed, then deep notes of sea salt and marine engines take over, over a base of fresh dried flax. All these scents hold together at reduced strength.

PALATE

Softly oily in texture, while the taste is gloriously sweet and spicy-smoky, with a distinct fruity hint, evoking an orchard seen through smoke and sea mist. A subtle salty balance in the middle brings the spice into a powerful chili capture as you swallow. With a drop of water, sweet fruitiness and saltiness take over.

END

Long, sustained and slightly smoky, with warm, lingering spices.
