Jose Cuervo Extra Anejo Tequila Reserva de la Familia 2018 Melanie Smith cl 70
Reserva de la Familia® is the Cuervo family’s award-winning extra-añejo 100% blue agave tequila produced in limited quantities. It is hand-selected from the private collection of the Cuervo® family. Each bottle is produced using only blue agave harvested at peak maturity after seven to 12 years of field cultivation and aged in French and American oak barrels for a minimum of three years.
The superb distillate is dark amber in color with an aroma of oak, almonds, apples, olives and cinnamon. Its flavor complexity is rich in oak, toasted almonds, vanilla and cinnamon. It should be served in a tequila flute to fully appreciate its flavors, aroma and velvety finish. (40% ABV-80 proof)
The process of creating such a luxurious tequila begins about a decade before the distillate reaches your glass, with the planting of 100 percent blue agave in the estate’s richest volcanic soils.
Made using only the tasty inner portion of hand-selected blue agave plants. The agave cooks at the La Rojeña distillery for a total of 48 hours-36 hours through direct steam and then another 12 hours with heat alone.
Reserva de la Familia Extra-Añejo acquires its complex taste as a result of elaborate aging processes. After resting in French and American oak barrels, the liquids are expertly blended by Alex Coronado, the Master Distiller.
The art of tequila production extends to the packaging of Reserva de la Familia, with meticulous care given to each bottle. The entire packaging process, from the application of the unique label design to the wax seal with the Cuervo family crest, is done by hand.
As part of their continued support of Mexican culture, the Jose Cuervo family commissions a Mexico-based artist each year to design original artwork for collectors.
