Zacapa rum was created in 1976 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the town of Zacapa. Zacapa is a city in Guatemala located about 112 km from Guatemala City. The name Zacapa comes from the Nahuatl (Aztec) language and means “on the river of grass.”
