Fifty Pounds Gin – London Dry Gin Cl 70
Fifty Pounds Gin is made from the neutral base of a grain brandy, distilled four times; plant ingredients are soaked in this base, for a period of two days, after which the whole is distilled a fifth time in an old still “John Doore” (traditionally known in London as “the Rolls Royce of stills”). After the fifth distillation, the liquid rests for at least three weeks before bottling to allow the plant ingredients to blend perfectly.
Fifty Pounds London Dry Gin is produced by the oldest method, by small batches, and each bottle bears the batch number and year of distillation.
The alcohol content is set at 43.5 percent vol., ideal for drinking the distillate neat or blended: not too low, that is, so as not to lose character, not too high so as not to distort the precious plant aromas.
