Mars Komagatake Limited Edition 2018 Japanese Single Malt Whisky Vol 48° cl 70
HISTORY: Originating in Japan, Mars Distillery has a very tumultuous and unusual history. Its founder, Kiichiro Iwai, sent the famous Masataka Taketsuru to Scotland. The Shinshu Mars distillery benefits from an exceptional geographical situation that gives its whiskey a singular character. Located at an altitude of 800 meters in a region with a harsh climate, the distillery enjoys the purest water springs filtered from the mountain through the centuries. Another special feature, whiskey production takes place only in the winter period. Declining demand in the 1980s forced the distillery to close its doors in 1992 finally reopening in 2001.
PRODUCT: Every year we look forward to the distillery’s new limited edition. Just as past limited editions have been assemblages of young single malts along with older malts, this edition leaves the stage solely to the distillery’s young whiskies. The freshness and vibrant notes of these young liquids perfectly reflect Mars’ philosophy.
PROFILE: Floral with traces of menthol. Notes of wildflowers and citrus on the palate. The finish is slightly herbaceous, intense white flowers.
