Main Features:

• Variety: Melon de Bourgogne.
• Vineyards: Located in the commune of Vallet, the vineyard that gives rise to this cuvée was planted in 1984 on soils composed of granite and gneiss from the Massif Armoricain. This parcel, a historical treasure of the Luneau family, stands between two villages, and in the middle of it runs a river.
• Vinification: After pressing, the must is transferred by gravity to underground concrete tanks and glass-lined containers, typical of the Nantes area, where alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts will take place spontaneously. The wine then remains in contact with the fermentation lees for thirteen months.
• Description: The L d’Or cuvée is a demonstration of Muscadet’s excellent aging potential. It was first produced in the 1970s from a vineyard owned by the Luneau-Papin family, planted on granitic soil. L d’Or testifies to the confidence that the Luneau-Papin family has always placed in this exceptional terroir and in Melon de Bourgogne, the jewel of the Nantes vineyards.

• Location: Le Landreau, in the heart of the Muscadet area a few kilometers from Nantes, France.
• History: Since the 18th century, the property, then called Domaine Pierre de la Grange, was renowned for the quality of the Melon de Bourgogne grapes produced there. The company is currently run by Pierre-Marie Luneau with his wife Marie and parents Pierre and Monique.
• Extent: The property includes 50 hectares of vineyards located in the villages of Le Landreau, la Vallet and La Chapelle Heulin.
• Soil: Characterized mainly by the presence of mycascist (metamorphic rock) and gneiss, but silica, volcanic rocks and schist can be found in some plots.
• Harvest: Strictly by hand to preserve the quality of the grapes.
• Philosophy of Production: Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin produces small cuvées made from individual vineyards to enhance the varietal characteristics of Melon de Bourgogne.
