Cardhu 16 Years Old Special Release 2022 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Cardhu 16 Year Old is the third release in the “Four Corners of Scotland Collection.” This limited edition series of single malts commemorates the transformation of the brand houses of Glenkinchie, Cardhu, Caol Ila and Clynelish. The four distilleries represent the four corners of Scotland. Each of the Four Corners of Scotland collections beautifully showcases the classic aromas and flavors of a special region. This special 16-year-old release from select casks is made to commemorate the transformation of the Cardhu malt whisky house in 2021 located in Speyside, Scotland. Cardhu has long been at the heart of Johnnie Walker whiskies. In 1893 it was the first distillery to be introduced to the Johnnie Walker family. It still shows the classic smooth Speyside character that John Walker & Sons valued so highly then.

Suggestions for service: smooth. With water it is softer, with notes of sweet fondant.

OUTWARD APPEARANCE

Unusually vibrant, this Cardhu from selected refills and freshly charred American oak barrels has character and complexity.

BODY

The texture is creamy.

NOSE

The lively, fresh, floral aroma produces herbaceous top notes with ripe orchard fruits and a trace of vanilla, on a light balsa wood base.

PALATE

The taste starts sweet, then there is a delicious spicy dryness as the really peppery heat persists through the long finish. Adding a good drop of water calms it down and brings out a sweet, light juiciness.

END

The finish remains pleasantly long; Sweet chili heat lingers on the aftertaste.
