Hauner Iancura Terre Siciliane IGT 2022
Passion for oenology and Malvasia delle Lipari as the latest challenge in a busy life studded with interests. This was the spirit with which Carlo Hauner embarked on his adventure in the Aeolian Islands in 1963; from painter to internationally renowned designer, he started wine production after restoring ancient terracing on the island of Salina. His little revolutions in the cellar fascinated experts, starting with Veronelli, and that brought Hauner’s Malvasia to the table of prestigious restaurants, in Italy, France, the United States, Great Britain, and Japan. In the 1980s, with the construction of a modern winery, production was expanded, and alongside Malvasia came Salina Bianco, Salina Rosso and Antonello, a product of great lineage aged in barriques. Since 1996 his son Carlo Junior together with his sons Andrea and Michele have been running the winery and producing two versions of Malvasia delle Lipari: natural and passita.

Description: Pale straw yellow in color with greenish glare. Fruity notes of peach on the nose, with vivid saline memories, scents of sun and sea, mineral freshness, then vegetable notes of celery and sage; more fruit with kiwi, melon, balsamic hints on the finish. In the mouth it is finely acidic, with honey-sweet notes imbued with saline sap and brief briny olive hints. Final fluid and candy-like finish always with a delicately saline base, lengths and persistences that lengthen the tasting pleasure leaving that lively sweet/salty and much fruitiness.
Pairing: Pasta with sardines, bruschetta of land and sea, fresh soft cheeses, raw fish.
