The Passion and Legacy of Charles Hauner

Born from a passion for oenology and a love for Malvasia delle Lipari, Hauner Iancura Terre Siciliane IGT 2023 is the fruit of the latest challenge of an intense and creative life. Carlo Hauner, an internationally renowned painter and designer, began his winemaking adventure in the Aeolian Islands in 1963. After restoring ancient terracing on the island of Salina, Hauner revolutionized the wine world with his Malvasia delle Lipari, winning over experts like Veronelli and landing on the tables of prestigious restaurants in Italy, France, the United States, Britain and Japan.

In the 1980s, expansion with a modern winery saw the birth, alongside Malvasia, of Salina Bianco, Salina Rosso and Antonello, a wine of great lineage aged in barriques. Since 1996, Carlo’s legacy has been carried on by his son Carlo Junior and grandsons Andrea and Michele, who continue to produce excellent versions of Malvasia delle Lipari: natural and passita.

Organoleptic Description

Hauner Iancura Terre Siciliane IGT 2023 shows a pale straw yellow color with greenish glimmers. On the nose, fruity notes of peach, lively saline memories, scents of sun and sea, mineral freshness and vegetable notes of celery and sage emerge. Hints of kiwi, melon and balsamic hints on the finish are also discernible. On the palate, it is finely acidic with sweet honeyed notes imbued with salty sap and brief briny olive hints. The finish is fluid and caramelly with a gently saline base, offering lengths and persistence that prolong the tasting pleasure with a lively sweet/salty contrast and lots of fruit.
