St. Michael-Eppan Pinot Blanc Schulthaus DOC 2023

Introduced to South Tyrol in 1850, Pinot Bianco is one of our winery’s most important white wines. First bottled in 1982, Schulthauser is now among the best-known Pinot Blancs in Alto Adige. A complete, fruity and fresh wine, it is capable of seducing the palate with its creamy smoothness and marked acidity.

Features:

• Color: Straw yellow with greenish highlights.
• Nose: Clear fruity expressions of apple, fresh pear and white flowers.
• Taste: Lively and balanced with fresh, fruity creaminess.

Composition and Vineyards:

• Variety: Pinot Blanc
• Location: Vineyards in the “Schulthaus” area, above Castel Moos in “Appiano Monte” (540-620m)
• Exposure: South/East
• Soils: Gravelly, calcareous with presence of clay
• Training system: Guyot

Harvest and Vinification:

• Harvest: Late September; manual harvest and selection of grapes.
• Vinification: 85% fermented in steel vats, 15% in wooden barrels with malolactic fermentation. Blending in the month of February.

Ideal as an aperitif and summer wine, it pairs well with:

• Seafood and fish.
• Delicate feathered game dishes.
• Tyrolean “Schlutzkrapfen” or cheese dumplings.
