Pinot Noirs make up 57 percent of the final blend of Krug Rosé 27th Edition, supplemented by the addition of 10 percent traditionally macerated red Pinot Noirs from plots located in Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. This Champagne is therefore particularly intense, distinctive and elegant.
Krug Rosé is an unexpected rosé Champagne that combines elegance and boldness; it is inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the Maison Krug to create a rosé Champagne that did not exist before and to reinvent itself each year by revealing a new face.
Krug Grande Cuvée 27th Edition is an assemblage of 38 wines from 9 different vintages, the youngest of which dates back to 2015 while the oldest to 2005. It also consists of an additional 10 percent traditionally macerated Pinot Noir from the vintage from the Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ plots, which approves spicy notes, color and structure. Resting for about seven years in Krug cellars gives Krug Rosé 27th Edition a unique expression and elegance.

Krug Rosé 27th Edition was composed from the 2015 harvest, a year marked by unprecedented heat and drought from the end of May until mid-August, slowing the development of the clusters. Fortunately, the rains and reasonable temperatures in the second half of August allowed the kernels to grow in optimal conditions. The harvest took place in the rain between August 31 and September 21, with very good heterogeneity among the various plots.

Each year, to recreate Maison Krug’s fifth generation’s idea of composing an unexpected, bold and elegant rosé Champagne, the Maison begins by identifying wines from the current and previous vintages that when combined together can release varied expressions of fruit.
Next, this composition accommodates a red wine Pinot Noir, macerated traditionally, which brings spicy notes, color and structure.

Krug Rosé 27th Edition is the result of pairing terroir wines from the year with reserve wines from 8 other vintages. Red Pinot Noir of the year from the Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ plots rounds out the creation, lending structure, color and panache. This dream is recreated for the 27th time.

Overall, reserve wines from the Maison’s extensive collection make up 55 percent of the final blend of this edition of Krug Rosé.

The final composition of this bottle of Krug Rosé is 57% Pinot Noir, 23% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier.
