Conteisa Gaja 2014 Barolo DOP cl 75

Conteisa Barolo is a blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera grapes, expertly hand-picked with care, which are fermented separately in steel vats for two weeks. At the end of malolactic fermentation, the wines are blended and then racked into semi-new barrels where they age for a period of 13 months. The resulting wine undergoes a further period of aging in large barrels for an additional 12 months.

Impenetrable in color, the nose is extremely rich, dense and concentrated with black fruits and spices: blackberry, jammy cherry, eucalyptus, cassis, coffee beans, licorice, goudron, roasting and cocoa powder. Wonderful integrity also on the palate where an aromatic strength of ripe fruit emerges wrapped in spices. Excellent balance, with the tannic component igniting the bitter sensation, almost completely enveloped in flavor development by the flowing gustatory softness available. A decidedly majestic wine.
